Lizzie Adams Wins Best In Show

Dufton Show Fell Race - 27 August 2011
Lizzie being congratulated by Rory Stewart MP for Penrith and the Border.
Lizzie Adams, winner of the Witton Park World Mountain Trial, gave some of England's better fell runners a real horror show today at Dufton's agricultural fair. She finished 6th overall but more shockingly for the local fastest men, led the race out of the show field and on for a mile and a half up to the fell.

Dufton Show features competition in sheep, cattle, horticulture, produce, handicrafts and humans with Morgan Donnelly's marvellous Dufton Pike Fell Race (5miles and 1500ft).

This is how they finished.
1. Jim Davies - 31:26
2. James Buis - 32:10
3. Rhys Findlay Robinson - 32:36
4. Tom Brunt - 32:44
5. Mike Fanning - 32 :51
6. Lizzie Adams - 33:06

Lizzie said she loved the race and pushed hard at the start as she was unsure if she would be able to cope with the descent ahead. However @Daleside_ talked to the men behind and ahead of Lizzie.....the consensus was that Lizzie has nothing to worry about her descents -"she was amazing" @Daleside_ heard one top ten runner say.

Lizzie regularly beats her boyfriend!
Lizzie, who will represent Great Britain in the World Mountain Running Championships in Albania on 11 September, regularly beats her boyfriend Tom Edwards, today knocking him in to 11th place 2:20 behind her.
